Professional Goal

It is my intent and objective to combine my 25 years of clinical experience with my newfound skills in instructional design, curriculum development and innovative teaching strategies in order to transform healthcare education.

MA in Educational Technology (MAET). In this program, I have learned to integrate technology into a variety of educational settings. Utilizing key educational theories as a foundation, this curriculum is the base of my newfound skillset in design and development of inventive educational endeavors.

Flight Nurse, University of Michigan Survival Flight, Ann Arbor, MI

December 2003 - Present

Evaluate, manage and transport (via ground, helicopter or airplane) critically ill or injured neonatal, pediatric and adult patients from hospitals and accident scenes. Trained in advanced airway skills and invasive skills such as central line and chest tube placement. Education and Teaching Experience

Educational Nurse Coordinator, University of Michigan Survival Flight

February 2011 - present

Responsible for initial and recurrent education of flight nurses, clinical practice development, design and implementation of orientation for new staff. Curriculum design and development for recurrent education and use of simulation to cultivate critical thinking skills. Development of a training program for preceptors. Responsible for maintenance of Survival Flight’s clinical standards. Secured grant funding for Survival Flight’s Mobile Training Unit (MTU) and family of 7 human patient simulators. Developed a flight nurse internship program for experienced critical care nurses wishing to bridge into the transport environment (the first of its kind in the country).
